Google celebrated its twentieth anniversary with a throwback to the 90’s, when Google was founded. From the decor to the food and drinks, everything was infused with nostalgia for 1998 and accented with subtle reminders of Google’s helpfulness over the years.
Google End of Year Celebration
Upon entering the event, guests were taken back in time to the garage where Google was founded, which included a LEGO replica of the original Google server and a counter with Swedish Fish, the first snack stocked at Google.
From the garage, guests were transported through a projection-mapped tunnel which played a timeline of Google Search trends from the past 20 years. Inspired by iconic memes and videos, guests could satisfy their sweet tooth at a giant candy machine, step into a YouTube music box featuring top music videos, or pose for glamour shots in a 90’s photo booth salon. The most iconic moment of the night was the stage technology, which featured a custom, illuminated timeline video of Google Search’s evolution through fonts, doodles, and search features. Each element was infused with Google products from over the years, from the search platform and YouTube to the latest Pixel Slate hardware.
